  Thomas was a native of Ballybricken, Co Limerick. He came out to NSW with his son and daughters At age 50, he arrived in Sydney accompanied by his sons and daughters ion the 'Adam Lodge' on 14 February 1840, his two wives having died previously in Ireland. On 20 April 1853 he was granted about 400 acres at Deringullen Creek 10 kms west of Yass.
