In Australia having settled at South West Rocks John assisted in the building of a ship named 'Rainbow', for a Mr Cochrane. 853 John enlisted in the Australian Army on the 24th of July 1942 he served as a sergeant with the 37/52 Australian Infantry Battalion. His wife Cecily Joan was also in the Army, she was a private. John and Joan got married got married on the 15th of May 1944 at ST Michaels church Traralgon.As Cecily entered the church the song Ave Maria was sung.service uniforms were worn by both the groom and bride.Christina , Johns sister was matron of honor and John Kearns his brother in-law was grooms-man. John and the rest of the OReilly boys moved to Traralgon from Grenfell to commence work on the sewerage lines. John and Joan as she was known, moved in with his sister Vera in Kay St. John and Joan would later move to what was their family home at 26 Brookes St Traralgon. John went on to work at the Australian paper mill. John and Joan had 6 children Douglas,Dennis,Patricia,Jill and Margaret. 891 Nepean Times (Penrith) Sat 6 Jun 1931 Obituary MR. R. TUXFORD Mr Robert Tuxford, a life-long resident of Penrith, died in Nepean District Hospital on 24th May, at the age of 69 years. Deceased had been ailing for about two months, and had been an inmate of the Hospital for some weeks. He was a bachelor, and was well known in the district. He served his time as a butcher, with Mr Butler, whose business was in High Street, opposite the site of Nepean Picture Theatre. He leaves one brother, Mr J. Tuxford, of Springhill (Orange district), one sister, Mrs E. Besley (Sydney), and five step-sisters—Mrs J. Field (Woodriff Street, Penrith), Mrs E. E. Fragar (Penrith), Mrs Hollier (Katoomba), Mrs Gore (Melbourne), and Mrs Best (Dulwich Hill). The funeral took place on Monday, 25th May, when the remains were laid to rest in the old St. Stephen's cemetery alongside those of a brother and sister of the deceased. The inscriptions on the old stones read: "John Tuxford, died February 20, 1874, aged 18," and "Sarah Tuxford, died June 21st, 1875, aged 15." The Rector, Rev. H. N. Powys, officiated at the funeral.
